Soylent Pinko: Obama’s food police want you to go vegan

To “save the planet,” of course.

The federal committee responsible for nutrition guidelines is calling for the adoption of “plant-based” diets, taxes on dessert, trained obesity “interventionists” at worksites, and electronic monitoring of how long Americans sit in front of the television.

The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) released its far-reaching 571-page report of recommendations to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Thursday, which detailed its plans to “transform the food system.”

DGAC said its recommendations to eat less meat are intended to “maximize environmental sustainability” out of concerns for climate change.

Every time you eat a steak, Mother Gaia cries.

Oh, BTW, they’re going to tax your dessert too.

DGAC called for diet and weight management interventions by “trained interventionists” in healthcare settings, community locations, and worksites.

“Government at local, state, and national levels, the health care system, schools, worksites, community organizations, businesses, and the food industry all have critical roles in developing creative and effective solutions,” they said.

DGAC also called for policy interventions to “reduce unhealthy options,” limit access to high calorie foods in public buildings, “limit the exposure” of advertisements for junk food, a soda tax, and taxing high sugar and salt items and dessert.

Michelle Obama’s Food Police are coming for you. Put down that eclair, step away from the table, and nobody gets hurt.

Wanna bet these “guidelines” get written into Obamacare regulations?

Hey, if they can tax you for not buying health insurance they can certainly tax you for buying Oreos. And trust me, they will.

This just in, solar panels don’t work when they’re covered in snow

Finally, a use for Global Warming! All this snow is blocking our solar panels from generating electricity.

For the countless solar panels that have cropped up on rooftops and fields across the region, winters like this one can reduce solar output when the panels become covered with snow or clouds filter the sunlight.

Overall, PSE&G’s solar production has dropped this winter as the state has been hit hard by snowstorm after snowstorm, said Todd Hranicka, director of solar energy, although he had no specific figures.

“It’s one of the challenges of solar,” he said. “If the sunlight is not hitting the solar panel, you’re not generating energy.”

So let me see if I’ve got this straight. We need solar energy to reduce our carbon footprint. Reducing our carbon footprint cools the air so we get more snow. And the snow stops the solar panels from working. Which means our carbon footprint goes up!

They spent $16 Grand on electric car charging stations and only made 13 bucks?

That there is one mighty fine government program!

The city of Des Moines, Iowa has only seen a $13 return on its investment so far after spending $16,000 last year on three electric car charging stations.

The ChargePoint units, installed in front of the Franklin Avenue Public Library and funded by a mix of city, state and library money, have been used just 13 times since last spring, the Des Moines Register reports. Each use generates one dollar of revenue.

But don’t worry, in another 1,230 years they’ll break even!

Globull Warming, clearly it’s not rocket science

NJ Democrats like to brag that Rep. Rush Holt is a bona fide Rocket Scientist.

He’s also a blooming idiot.

U.S. Senate candidate Rush Holt said his claim made Monday that “millions will die” if something isn’t done to address global warming was reality, not hyperbole.

“I think it’s no exaggeration at all to say that millions will die. And in fact there’s pretty good evidence that millions already have died because of climate change,” Holt, a congressman from central New Jersey who’s seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, said in a Star-Ledger editorial board meeting this morning.

The World Is Ending! The Sky Is Falling! Elect Rush Holt to the U.S. Senate or WE”RE ALL GONNA DIE!

What is the carbon footprint of a pizza that’s delivered to the White House from St. Louis?

Because President CO2 Cutter flew in 20 pizzas last month for himself and some friends. Special delivery, direct from St. Louis, Missouri. 860 miles, more or less.

Apparently you can’t get good take-out in DC.

As Instapundit is fond of saying, I’ll believe this whole CO2 causes Global Warming thing is really a problem when the guy telling me it’s a problem starts acting like it’s a problem.

Until then, he’s just spewing hot air.
