“You have forgotten God who gave you birth.”

I’d say that today’s Responsorial Psalm is the Lord whacking our bishops with a clue-by-4.

You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth.

“The LORD saw it, and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.

And he said, `I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end will be, for they are a perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.

They have stirred me to jealousy with what is no god; they have provoked me with their idols. So I will stir them to jealousy with those who are no people; I will provoke them with a foolish nation.

Read that in the context of the PA grand jury report and tell me it isn’t a warning to the men who would hide the sins of their brothers.

Sadly my own bishop, Cardinal Tobin, refuses to see. He wrote a letter to the priests of the Archdiocese addressing another round of allegations. Frankly I’m, underwhelmed. Especially by this:

“No one – including the anonymous ‘sources’ cited in the article – has ever spoken to me about a ‘gay sub-culture’ in the Archdiocese of Newark.”

Sergeant Schultz, please call your office. “Uncle Ted” is on line 2.

His Eminence’s protestation beggars credibility. Perhaps he needs to spend a day or 3 with Bishop Morlino in the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin. The fact is the Church has become too accepting of sin, too willing to sacrifice dogma to the needs of “pastoral care.” The Nuns On The Bus embraced Obamacare, including contraception, sterilization, and abortion because they believe the pastoral need for access to health care outweighs the spiritual need to be true to the Gospels. Cardinal Tobin embraces dissident priests who “reach out” to LGBT communities out of a desire to show mercy and love to all God’s children. But what about their immortal souls? What happens when LGBT “pride” translates into sacrilegious actions by supposed men of God?

Sin.

Sin happens.

Pope Francis wants us to do penance. OK. But it won’t be enough. Yes we are all sinners, and yes we must all return to the path of righteousness. Yet His Holiness does not address the decades of coverups, deceit, stonewalling, and debauchery which has permeated every layer of Holy Mother Church. And I’m not just singling out the homosexuals. We have bishops who are determined to sanction adultery by admitting divorced and remarried Catholics to Holy Communion. We have supposedly Catholic institutions which gladly promote contraception, pre-marital sex, gender fluidity, and same-sex relationships.

They have forgotten God who gave them birth.

Pray for them. Pray for their repentance. Pray for their salvation. Pray that the priests, bishops, and cardinals who have not succumbed to temptation will remain steadfast in their faith and be a beacon of hope to the wayward among them. Pray too for the children and young men whose lives were destroyed. Pray that God will not forget us.

Georgetown University is catholic in name only

Contrary to popular belief, the Roman Catholic Church does not condone shilling for abortion.

A Washington D.C.-based private Catholic university is slated to offer a class next semester that is expected to teach students how to promote and protect abortion coverage provided under the Affordable Care Act.

The course, “Regulatory Advocacy: Women and the Affordable Care Act,” is set to be taught at Georgetown Law, and it has upset staunch Catholics, according to The Cardinal Newman Society, which first reported on the new academic offering.

“We have long warned about Georgetown scandals that undermine the Church’s strong defense of innocent life,” Patrick Reilly, society president, told Catholic Education Daily. “But here students are being required to work for a pro-abortion lobby, making America’s oldest Catholic university an active agent of the culture of death.”

The course will hone in on “regulatory advocacy as it pertains to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and women’s health,” and calls on students to work with the National Women’s Law Center “to develop projects that will assist in the organization’s regulatory advocacy efforts.” The law center publicly supports Obamacare and its mandate requiring religious institutions provide insurance coverage for abortions and other birth control.

The Jesuits of Georgetown would do well to reacquaint themselves with Canon 915.

Excommunicate Nancy Pelosi!

Father Frank Pavone pulls no punches when it comes to San Fran Nan and her “sacred” sacrament of abortion.

In an open letter, Fr. Frank Pavone, national director for Priests for Life, a pro-life organization, made known his discontent with Pelosi’s most recent comments about abortion.

“Last Thursday, June 13, you were asked a question in a press briefing that you declined to answer. The question was, ‘What is the moral difference between what Dr. Gosnell did to a baby born alive at 23 weeks and aborting her moments before birth?,’” Pavone wrote. “Instead of even attempting to answer the question, you resorted to judgmental ad hominem attacks on the reporter who asked it, saying, ‘You obviously have an agenda. You’re not interested in having an answer.’”

The priest said, though, that it is Pelosi’s stance on the matter that is problematic, as she isn’t interested in “giving an answer.”

But that wasn’t the harshest of his rebukes. Pavone went on to charge that Pelosi made a “mockery of the Catholic faith” during the press conference and that she offended millions of Americans who follow church doctrine. Here, he was referring to her claim to be a “practicing and respectful Catholic” who believes that the abortion discussion is “sacred ground.”

“You speak here of Catholic faith as if it is supposed to hide us from reality instead of lead us to face reality, as if it is supposed to confuse basic moral truths instead of clarify them, and as if it is supposed to help us escape the hard moral questions of life rather than help us confront them,” he continued.

“Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it’s time for you to stop speaking as if it were,” added the priest.

Too many American “catholic” (yes, small-c) politicians openly flout Church teachings on abortion, gay “marriage,” and contraception. It is time for the Holy See to kick some butt. Excommunicate Nancy Pelosi. Because abortion is never “sacred.” Never.

According to Obama, Catholic Schools create “fear and resentment”

Speaking in Ireland yesterday, Dear Leader slandered Catholic education.

President Barack Obama (above), repeated the oft disproved claim that Catholic education increases division in front of an audience of 2000 young people, including many Catholics, at Belfast’s Waterfront hall when he arrived in the country this morning.

“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” the US president said.

I’d invite him to visit my daughter’s Catholic school to see “fear and resentment” up close. But he wouldn’t understand the sarcasm.

OK, my liberal friends, go ahead and tell he he’s “my president” too. Go ahead. He clearly has a vendetta against the Catholic Church, and by extension me, and my daughter. This latest incident is proof, beyond a reasonable doubt.
