When will Eric Holder investigate “obscene government profits?”

El Jefe directed Attorney General Eric “See No Evil when it’s done by Black People” Holder to investigate “obscene” oil company profits amid allegations of price gouging and market manipulation.

Yes it’s true, with gas at over $4 per gallon, a whole 7 cents of that contributed to Exxon-Mobil’s profit.  Seven Cents.

Coming at 42 cents per gallon are Federal and State gasoline taxes (on average).

Why isn’t it six times more “obscene” for government to collect six times more profit than Exxon-Mobil?

Taxpayers on the hook for rapist’s $800,000 heart transplant

The Welfare State writ large:

Taxpayers may pay $800,000 to give a life-saving heart transplant to an upstate rapist whose crime of incest was so “grotesquely criminal” that a prosecutor said he should “rot in prison.”

If doctors give the OK, Kenneth Pike, 55, would be the first New York prisoner to get a heart transplant. Pike was flown Monday from the state prison in Coxsackie to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where 49 patients are awaiting donor hearts.

Pike is serving an 18-to-40-year sentence for sexually assaulting a teenage relative in Auburn. He’s eligible for parole in 2013.

“Rot in prisoin” is almost like “here’s a new heart,” isn’t it? Especially for a heartless rapist who preyed on his own family.

Aren’t you glad you pay taxes? Don’t you wish you could pay more?

Another Brick in the Pay Wall

Times Company Profit Falls on Weak Ad Revenue

The New York Times Company reported a sharp drop in net income in the first quarter as the print advertising market remained stubbornly depressed for newspapers.

The company said net income fell 57.6 percent to $5.4 million, compared with $12.8 million in the quarter a year ago.

Imagine if there’s no New York Times, it’s easy if you try….

Maybe if they charged the Obama campaign by the word their prospects would start looking up.

California: Disneyland for Unions

Taking three steps toward fiscal insolvency, CA Governor Moonbeam awarded the corrections officers union unlimited accrued vacation, to be paid out at retirement.

Deep in the 200-page contract that Gov. Jerry Brown recently approved for state prison guards is a provision that could generate a cash windfall to the officers when they retire.

The guards, who are among Brown’s largest political benefactors, would be able to save an unlimited number of vacation days under their new deal. When they leave state service, those days could be exchanged for cash at their final pay rate, which would probably be higher than when they earned the time off.

The governor is extending this benefit only to members of the California Correctional Peace Officers Assn., a union that spent nearly $2 million to help him win election last year.

Removing the decades-old limit on accrued vacation — now 80 days for most state employees — would be a “huge liability” for taxpayers, said Nick Schroeder of the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office. Schroeder said he had not determined the cost of lifting the cap, but his analysis of the deal showed the average corrections union member has accumulated nearly 19 weeks of leave time to date. All of that time off has “a current cash value of over $600 million,” he said.

Wow, Chris Christie is trying to end bullshit like this thanks to Jim McGreevey and Jon Corzine, and here goes California, right off a cliff.

So here’s a thought, alll public employee union members should move to California.  Then the rest of the country can get on with the business of prosperity while the union looters death-spiral into the drain.  Maybe we should give California back to Mexico, let’s see if Felipe Calderon writes those retirement checks.

Up in the sky… It’s a bird… It’s a plane… It’s Unemployment Man!

Florida job center gave capes to the unemployed

State officials are investigating a Florida job center after it was revealed the facility spent US$14,200 on red superhero capes for the unemployed, instead of using the taxpayer money to find them jobs.

The “Cape-A-Bility” challenge campaign is part of a greater effort to connect with the community it serves, Workforce Central Florida Director Gary J. Earl  told The Associated Press.

Another Obama Stimulus success story!

Joe Biden, Philanthropist

On the plus side, VP Joe Biden gave more than $369 to charity last year.

But don’t think you can count on him to give til it hurts.

Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, grossed $379,178, paid $86,626 in tax and reported just $5,350 in charitable donations, with $950 of that accounted for by used clothing and household items donated to Goodwill.

I’m not going to release my tax returns.  But Joe Biden needs to significantly up his game if he’s gonna even equal my wife and me.  And I assure you, we don’t make anywhere near $379,000 dollars a year.  Not even close.

Then again, we aren’t Big Government Liberals who expect “somebody else” to take care of the poor and downtrodden.

Barry wants a phone with “fancy buttons”

El Jefe thinks he deserves a better phone system.

“The Oval Office, I always thought I was going to have really cool phones and stuff,” he said during a small fundraising event at a Chicago restaurant. “I’m like, c’mon guys, I’m the president of the United States. Where’s the fancy buttons and stuff and the big screen comes up? It doesn’t happen.”

Please God, don’t give him THE button.
